First Navy Jack Historic Flag

First flown by Commodore Esek Hopkins of the Continental Navy in 1775, the First Navy Jack was used to engage the British Navy on the Delaware River. On 31 May 2002, the Secretary of the Navy has directed that starting September 11, 2002 (Patriot Day.), all U.S. naval ships to fly the First Navy Jack for the duration of the war on terrorism.
